Enterprise Holdings Foundation has given a $2,000 donation to Bright Futures for Youth to support the upcoming Heart of Gold Gravel mountain bike race Oct. 7 in Nevada City.
The popular race, which attracts hundreds of riders from around the state, raises money for teen mental wellness programs for several programs in Nevada County, including Bright Futures for Youth.
It starts at the Eric Rood Administration Center in Nevada City and runs through western Nevada County, including over the Yuba River, through the town of Washington and up steep hills.
Lisa Holmes, California account manager for Enterprise’s business rental department, enjoyed recently touring Bright Futures for Youth and learning about their programs, such as NEO Youth Center, which offers a safe, supervised space for teens 11-18 to spend time after school; and SAFE, a program that helps youth experiencing housing instability. “I was honored to have a tour of their facility and see firsthand the great work that they are doing there,” said Holmes.
Nevada County Supervisor Hardy Bullock said he appreciated Enterprise’s donation. “This contribution will help support teen mental wellness programs countywide,” he said. “This cause is something we share as a community. It’s so refreshing to see a company like Enterprise work locally and give back to our community.”
Registration to ride in the race is open now at heartofgoldgravel.com and costs $168.
