The Board of Supervisors honored three Truckee leaders at its meeting Tuesday in Truckee. The Board met away from its normal Nevada City chambers to focus on the eastern county and highlight collaborative efforts between the County, Town of Truckee and other stakeholders.
The honorees were:
- Julian Hall, former Truckee High School football star (pictured here with parents and coach) – Youth Leadership Award. As quarterback, Hall led his team to a 40-13 victory over SLAM Academy, helping win the Class 3A Nevada State Championship. He was voted team captain and Most Valuable Player by his teammates. He earned a 4.2 GPA and was named an “All-American Football Scholar.” He is entering California Polytechnic State University (Cal Poly) in San Luis Obispo this year and has been accepted into the prestigious School of Architecture and Environmental Design.
- Judy Price, Town Clerk for Truckee – Certificate of Recognition for 21 years of service and contributions to the greater Truckee community. Price created the Town’s first webpage and served as its first webmaster. She helped improve the annual Truckee Veteran’s Day event and strengthened relationships between various government agencies in the region through the formation of the Regional Clerks Group.
- Alison Schwedner, former director Tahoe Truckee Community Foundation – Certificate of Recognition for improving lives of families and youth in the Truckee Tahoe Region. Schwedner has worked with area nonprofits for nearly 20 years, starting as a volunteer on Tahoe Women’s Services’ 24-hour Community Help Line for domestic violence survivors. She worked for the Tahoe SAFE Alliance and the North Tahoe Family Resource Center before joining the Tahoe Truckee Community Foundation in 2008. Because of her work at the foundation, more community members are fed, sheltered and connected with the help they need.
