The Nevada County Board of Supervisors and California Department of Child Support Services have declared August as Child Support Awareness Month!
The theme of this year's Child Support Awareness Month is “Different Wants, Different Needs, One Shared Goal,” which recognizes the importance of working with diverse co-parents to meet their individual needs and achieve the shared goal of supporting children and helping them to thrive.
“At the heart of our mission in Child Support lies a deep commitment to understanding and addressing the unique needs of every family we serve. Just as each child is a one-of-a-kind individual, so too are the circumstances and challenges faced by their families.” Mike Dent, Director of Housing and Child Support Services.
The Sierra Nevada Regional Department of Child Support Services (SNRDCSS) is the agency charged with the administration of the child support program for Nevada and Sierra Counties and currently assists 2,490 families with their child support needs. With annual collections over $6 million, SNRDCSS consistently ranks amongst the top 5 California counties in the collection and distribution of child support.
In June 2023, SNRDCSS began increased outreach efforts in the Town of Truckee and has started providing in-person services on the second Wednesday of each month. See our website for more information about the Truckee Drop-in services.
The staff at SNRDCSS is dedicated to meeting the needs of local children and families. Visit the Sierra Nevada Regional Department of Child Support Services website to learn more about the department.
