What Are Your Priorities for Emergency Preparedness?

Take Nevada County’s Survey at www.ReadyNevadaCounty.org/Future

Nevada County is asking residents what is most important to them around emergency preparedness and prioritizing critical resources required to prevent and respond to disasters. Data will also be used to better analyze gaps in resources and services.

As wildfires become more frequent and more destructive, heat events become increasingly common, and climate uncertainties mean more risk of droughts, floods, and extreme weather events, Nevada County must be well prepared for ongoing natural disasters.

“We know wildfire preparedness is the number one issue for our community. The winter storms were a stark reminder of how emergencies can strike anytime. We are facing a situation where our needs threaten to outpace our resources,” said Nevada County CEO Alison Lehman. “Setting strategic priorities and securing the necessary resources to implement them must be our focus, which is why community input now is essential.”

The Office of Emergency Services team will be at local events, talking with the public about preparing for fire season and getting their input on this important topic.

Residents can share strategies they would prioritize to make Nevada County more prepared and resilient via a survey at www.ReadyNevadaCounty.org/Future.
