Emergency Preparedness & Planning

Emergency Preparedness Program

The Emergency Preparedness Program (EPP) of the Nevada County Public Health Department coordinates, plans for, and has the capability to respond to a variety of emergencies, public health or otherwise.

Emergencies

In the event of a public health emergency, the EPP will respond quickly with the appropriate and best resources available. If additional medical supplies or pharmaceuticals are required to protect residents of Nevada County during response efforts, Medical Countermeasures (MCM) will be requested via the Strategic National Stockpile (SNS) or other state caches and utilized to protect and care for residents.

Emergency Preparedness Program (EPP) Meetings

Time:  10:00 to 11:30 am

Warehouses & Points of Dispensing

Warehouses and Points of Dispensing (POD) are critical to implement response efforts. Disaster Service Workers (DSW) and other healthcare professionals are trained to receive, process, and distribute material to the public via a variety of mechanisms including PODs. Training consists of a variety of methods including videos via YouTube (via Orange County Health Care Agency Disaster Management), website based, just in time training, and/or in person training.
