CodeRED Frequently Asked Questions

Why are CodeRED Emergency Alerts important to me?

CodeRED Emergency Alerts are an important tool to help keep you informed and prepared for emergencies that may occur in our area. Officials will send messages to alert you of emergency details, instructions, or precautions that you need in order to make well-informed decisions and remain safe. This system is precise enough to geo- target residents within an exact area of impact, so that only those people who are affected by an emergency are notified.

I moved and no longer want to receive CodeRED Emergency Alerts, what should I do?

Residents may opt-out of notifications at the following link: https://info.onsolve.com/Notification-Opt-Out.html.

What should I do if I receive a CodeRED message or call?

If you receive a CodeRED call, email or text message, please be sure to read or listen to the entire message carefully and follow all instructions. You can repeat the phone message by pressing any key. Do not call 9-1-1 for further information unless directed to do so, or you need immediate aide from the police or fire department. Please do call 2-1-1, or 1-833-DIAL211 for more information.

What are the phone numbers from which calls and texts will originate?

All emergency calls will originate from 866-419-5000. Non-emergency alert calls will originate from 855-969-4636.Text messages will originate from phone numbers based on cellular provider. Please be sure to add CodeRED’s Emergency Alert numbers to your contacts.

What if I miss a portion of the CodeRED Emergency Alert message?

At any point, you may re-dial the 866-419-5000 number on your caller ID to hear a replay of the message sent. The CodeRED system will leave a message on your answering machine or voicemail if you miss a CodeRED Emergency Alert phone call. If you do not have an answering machine, the system will consider the call as “incomplete” and will attempt to call again after several minutes have passed. If your phone line is busy, CodeRED will try two more times to connect. You may also see a text version of all CodeRED Emergency Alert messages sent to the public on the Ready Nevada County Dashboard locations at ReadyNevadaCounty.org/Dashboard.

I have a cordless phone and it will not work when the power goes out. How will the system contact me?

If possible, keep an analog telephone on hand for these situations. You may also receive notifications on your cell phone. Be advised that voice over internet protocol (VOIP) phones, such as a phone through Comcast, will not work without power.

Someone in my household already signed up. Does that mean I’m registered too?

Not necessarily. Verify your mobile phone numbers and personal email addresses are registered, in addition to your home phone. Make sure minors with mobile phones are also registered. To confirm you are in the CodeRED Emergency Alert System, please contact the Customer Support team at 1-866-939-0911.

Am I automatically enrolled in CodeRED Emergency Alerts?

CodeRED is an opt-in system which requires registration. All residents should proactively register.

I thought I was registered, but I did not receive an alert during a test. What should I do?
