Check Out a Telescope

Library telescopes are made possible by the Nevada County Astronomers Club.  The goal of offering telescopes through the library is to provide wider access, foster interest in astronomy, and provide patrons a chance to experience the excitement that comes from discovery in the sky.

Borrowing A Telescope

  • A telescope may be placed on hold through the library catalog or by calling the branch location.
  • Checkout is 5 days maximum and must be returned to the location from which it was borrowed.
  • 4.5 Orion Telescopes are available at Madelyn Helling and Truckee Library locations. (Available soon at the Penn Valley & Bear River Libraries).
  • 6.0 Orion StarBlast Telescopes are available for check out at the Grass Valley, Madelyn Helling, and Truckee Library Locations.
  • Patrons must be 18 year of age or older and children must be supervised while using telescope.
