Animal Control
Nevada County Animal Control Division oversees Animal Control Operations and the Sammie's Friends Animal Shelter Contract. The goal of animal control officers is to gain compliance through education and, if needed, through the enforcement of applicable laws.

The Boating Enforcement and Safety Team promotes boating safety, and enforces the local, state and federal laws upon the waterways.

Critical Incident Negotiations Team (CINT)
The Nevada County Sheriff Critical Incident Negotiations Team (CINT) is a specially trained unit of skilled hostage / crisis negotiators.

Major Crimes Unit (MCU)
The MCU investigates crimes against persons and/or property.

Special Investigations Unit (SIU)
The NTF is responsible for investigating information regarding narcotics trafficking, the manufacturing of controlled substances and the cultivation of illegal marijuana (indoor and outdoor grows).

Neighborhood Watch & Crime Prevention Program
As citizens of Nevada County, you can take an active part in fighting crime by developing a Neighborhood Watch and Crime Prevention Program in your area.

Patrol Division
Deputies assigned to the Patrol Division are the first to respond to any emergency in the county. Patrol Deputies are trained to handle and enforce any criminal, civil or traffic related violation. They conduct a wide variety of misdemeanor and felony crime investigations as part of their daily duties.

School Resource Officer Program
The purpose of the School Resource Officer Program is to provide deputies to investigate all crimes and incidents on school campuses, assist the schools in problems, follow up other deputies' reports involving juvenile crimes, and provide follow-up investigation on juvenile runaway reports.

Search & Rescue
The Nevada County Sheriff's Office is dedicated to helping those in the community who become lost or need rescuing. The Sheriff's Office partners with volunteers from the community to form the Nevada County Sheriff's Search and Rescue Team(NCSSAR)

Special Enforcement Detail (SED)
The SED Team is a specialized tactics and weapons unit specifically implemented for high risk search warrant service, arrest warrant service, barricaded suspects, or hostage incidents.

Truckee Operations
The Truckee Station responds to approximately 300 plus square miles of Nevada County. The area encompasses the Township of Truckee, which is the most heavily populated, and is 34 square miles.

Volunteers in the Sheriff’s Office offer their talents, skills, abilities and dedication to provide services to their community. Our Volunteers epitomize our Community Orientated Policing philosophy. They are involved in many aspects of our day to day operations, and continue to be an invaluable resource to the department and our community.
