Biography

Since 1984 Rolf Kleinhans has thoroughly enjoyed living and playing in beautiful Nevada County. Rolf has over 35 years of experience in the private and public sectors of property valuation, finance, administration, and fiscal oversight. 

Prior to being elected to the Office of Nevada County Assessor in June 2022, Rolf worked as the Chief Fiscal and Administrative Officer for the Nevada County Sheriff’s Office. Previously he has worked in real estate in both Corporate and Entrepreneurial environments. He has earned two degrees from UCLA; a bachelor’s degree in Geography/ Ecosystems, and a Master’s in Business Administration, concentrating in Finance and Real Estate.

Rolf has contributed to the county in many capacities; he is a past Chairman and member of the Nevada County User Fee Committee, past Chairman and member of the Nevada County Sewage Disposal Technical Advisory Group, past member of the Executive Committee of the Economic Resource Council, and past President and Director of the Nevada County Association of Realtors. He has also served as the President of the California State Association of Public Administrators, Public Guardians, and Public Conservators.

Rolf and his wife Karin have three adult sons, two grandchildren, three dogs, one cat, and an assortment of chickens. They both enjoy outdoors recreation and the natural beauty that Nevada County has to offer.

Rolf is committed to ensuring that Nevada County taxpayers receive a fair and accurate assessment of their taxable property governed by California tax law and will preserve Proposition 13 and all tax relief measures available to property owners. This commitment is at the forefront of the Assessor's Office.
