Adult Services

The mission of Adult Services under the Department of Social Services (DSS) is opening doors, building community, and being of service to County citizens needing social, eligibility, or employment training services.

Agricultural Commissioner

California’s County Agricultural Commissioners serve as the primary local enforcement agents for state agricultural laws and regulations.

Airport

The airport is home to many types of aircraft including homebuilt, commercial charter, ultralight, and private. Additionally, the airport is home to the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection and US Forest Service Grass Valley Air Attack Base.

Animal Control

Nevada County Animal Control Division oversees Animal Control Operations and the Sammie's Friends Animal Shelter Contract. The goal of animal control officers is to gain compliance through education and, if needed, through the enforcement of applicable laws.

Assessor

The Assessor's Office locates taxable property, identifies ownership, and establishes value for the tax assessment rolls.

Auditor - Controller

The Auditor-Controller is the chief accounting officer of the County, responsible for budget control, disbursements, receipts and the accounting and reporting functions of the county's budget.

Behavioral Health

The mission of the Nevada County Behavioral Health Department is to provide high quality, culturally competent mental health and substance abuse treatment services to Nevada County Residents.

The Building Department's goal is to provide services that result in compliance with minimum housing, building and safety laws, and to serve customers in a timely, efficient, and effective manner.
